Every time I say that—and I do seem to say that a lot in my life—I picture that scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail where the son is trying to get rid of his father with the rest of the diseased corpses from the Black Death. Here’s the link if you don’t know what I mean.
But it’s true. I’m not dead. I’m living and hale and still more than a little rotund. Or fat. Whichever you’d prefer. I mean, I could lose weight, but that would require me to eat less Chipotle and drink less whiskey (I can hear the whiskey bell a-ringin’ right now) and what good would life be then?
Plenty good, I’m sure. I just like whiskey and Chipotle.
And here you go, getting me distracted. Where was I before the bit about whiskey—which I now have a glass of thank you very much—and everything else? Ah. I’m still alive. I’ve just been busy. Work and paychecks take up a lot of my time and spare thought, and what’s left is taken up by my novel.
Yes, I’m still writing. Kristen’s Thriller is nearing its conclusion with one character meeting another resulting in revelations. Is that vague enough for you? I can be more specific but spoilers. Do you really want me to give away the end of the book and ruin it for everyone? And by everyone, I do mean myself as well.
Damn discovery writers.
But I do know it’s nearing its end. Tension is building and things are set to ‘splode on the slopes of action. How’s that for description? I can do better, I’m sure, but I like the notion.
Yet, I’m sure that some of you figured out that I’m not actually gone, but just on hiatus. For those of you who don’t know, I published a little bit of writing earlier. First time in months, I know. But it felt right, so I entered with a dramatic flourish to an empty theater. Ha! Another image that I happen to like.
Either way—like it or not—I’m back. I’ll be around more again. It may not be long posts, it may just be stories, but I’m here once again. Besides, we have many things yet to experience together.
That sounded weird.
There are many things that we have yet to experience together. There. Better. Anyways, I could tell you more on what those things are, but—again—spoilers. But I can give hints.
The Red Dress.
Yes, for those of you in the know, that means The Red Dress is coming to a bookshelf near you. For those of you who don’t—Surprise! The Red Dress will be coming to a bookshelf near you. But more on that later.
I hope to see you all again soon. Come on back. Put your feet up on the sofa. Help yourself to a drink. The whiskey’s next to the microwave. Enjoy yourselves and jump into the conversation. I am glad—ever so glad—to have you back in my life. Let’s see if I can make you smile.
